Set the date range before comparing results

The visible total only makes sense with its reporting window attached. If you need a specific period, open Custom on Podcast Overview, enter the dates, and select Update Stats. Buzzsprout says the graph then updates for that period, and you can select a point on it to see the episode downloads for that day.

Keep the same window when comparing recurring reports. A rolling period and a calendar period can produce different totals even when both are accurate. Record the selected dates, the date you checked the report, and any important release context.

For a single release, compare it with episodes at the same age. Buzzsprout's Episode Pacing Chart appears on the home page and compares the four most recent episodes over their first month. This avoids judging a new episode against the lifetime total of an older one.

Buzzsprout collects downloads from platforms that request the RSS-hosted media, including podcast apps and web players. Individual apps can observe behavior inside their own products. That is why retention, listening duration, followers, and similar engagement fields belong in Apple Podcasts Connect, Spotify for Creators, YouTube Studio, or the relevant app dashboard.

3. Wrong level: move from the show overview to the episode view for a specific release.

5. Recent activity: allow the normal processing cycle, then compare the same view again rather than mixing screenshots from different tools.
