Libsyn downloads: where to find your stats

Libsyn downloads appear in two places. The Dashboard shows a quick Stats Snapshot, while Stats at the top of the account opens the detailed Statistics page for plans with access. Before you record a total, confirm the selected show, date range, episode scope, and whether the view is IAB or Unique.
These are host delivery statistics. For completion, retention, or followers inside a listening app, use that app's own creator dashboard.
How to see Libsyn downloads
For a quick check:
- Sign in to Libsyn and select the correct show.
- Open Dashboard.
- Find Stats Snapshot at the top.
- Confirm whether IAB or Unique is selected.
- Read the all-time, recent-month, or recent-week graph that matches your question.
- Hover over a graph point for the value tied to that day or month.
Libsyn's current guide to the Stats Snapshot documents this route and says the Dashboard provides a quick view of downloads for the selected show's episodes.

Open the detailed Statistics page
Select Stats at the top of your Libsyn account when you need more than the snapshot. Libsyn's basic statistics documentation says the Statistics page is available on the Basic plan or higher.
The page includes show-level totals, recent episode comparisons, an Episode Totals table, date-range reporting, and a Downloads by Episode table. Use the narrowest view that answers the question:
- Show overview: delivery across all episodes
- Last 5 Episodes: recent releases over comparable post-publication windows
- Episode Totals: release-based totals and search for a specific episode
- Statistics By Date Range: activity during a selected period
- Downloads by Episode: episodes that received downloads in that period
Do not copy a number without its label. A show-wide count for a period and an episode's post-release total answer different questions.
Check IAB or Unique before comparing
Libsyn lets you switch between IAB and Unique downloads. Its download definition guide says IAB is the default view and documents the toggle on the Dashboard, episode details, and Statistics page.
The two modes apply different definitions and filtering, so their totals are not expected to match. Put the selected mode in the report title. For sponsor reporting, follow the provider's current guidance and do not quietly switch definitions between periods.
Our guide to how to measure podcast downloads explains why a download definition must travel with the number.
See downloads for one episode
You have two documented routes:
- From show-level statistics, select the episode title.
- From the episode details, select View Stats beneath Downloads for this Episode.
Libsyn's episode statistics instructions say the episode view uses the same types of tables as the show-level report, limited to one episode. It also includes a Media File Breakdown for episodes with relevant media files.
Compare similar releases at the same age. An older episode has had more time to accumulate delivery, so its all-time total is not a fair baseline for a new release.
Set a useful reporting window
On the Statistics page, use Statistics By Date Range when the decision concerns a campaign, release period, or recurring report. Libsyn documents preset options, manual dates, and a selectable window ending today. Save the exact dates with the result.
Also note whether the view is daily, weekly, or monthly. Changing the grouping can make the chart look different without changing the underlying delivery events.
How to track podcast analytics gives you a simple record for source, definition, filters, dates, and release notes.
Do not confuse downloads with app engagement
Libsyn can report delivery from its position as the media host. Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, and other listening products can observe behavior inside their own apps. Keep those data sources separate.
A Libsyn download does not establish that a listener finished the episode. An app's retention chart does not replace the host's cross-platform delivery report. Use each source for the behavior it can actually observe.
If the expected number is missing
Check these causes in order:
- The wrong show is selected.
- The date range excludes the activity.
- You are looking at show-level data instead of one episode.
- The IAB or Unique toggle differs from the prior report.
- Your plan does not include the detailed view you expected.
- The metric belongs to a listening app rather than Libsyn.
Save the corrected settings before sharing the report. That makes the next comparison reproducible.
