How to move podcast from Spreaker to a new host

To move podcast from Spreaker, import the complete show at the destination while the Spreaker feed is active. Compare the two feeds, set Spreaker's feed redirect, verify the existing directory listings, and publish one ordinary episode from the new host before changing the old account.
Treat the import and redirect as separate jobs. The import copies public content. The redirect tells apps and subscribers where to request it next.
Before you move podcast from Spreaker
Confirm that the destination fixes the problem behind the move. Compare its publishing workflow, storage, private content, and team permissions. Review its advertising controls and analytics. Check the available support separately. If you have not picked the provider, start with our podcast hosting company comparison.
Spreaker supports third-party analytics prefixes, including the setup used by Podder. If independent measurement is the only goal, installing the prefix avoids moving the archive and feed. It also leaves your embeds and publishing process unchanged. Change hosts when another operating requirement also favors the destination.
For a planned move, gather the old Spreaker RSS URL, original audio files where available, artwork, and credentials for Apple Podcasts Connect, Spotify for Creators, and any other platform where the show is claimed. Keep Spreaker live throughout the import.
Write down the handoff details:
| Item | What to save |
|---|---|
| Spreaker feed | Current public RSS URL |
| Destination feed | New host's public RSS URL |
| Catalog | Episode list, dates, duration, and playable audio |
| Identity | Show metadata and artwork; sample GUIDs |
| Reporting | Spreaker exports and cutover date |
| Distribution | Access to claimed directory dashboards |
Keep the general host switching checklist nearby for the checks that do not depend on Spreaker.
1. Import the Spreaker show at the destination
Create the podcast at the new host and give its importer the active Spreaker RSS URL. Wait for the process to finish before changing RSS settings at Spreaker. A redirect added too early can make the importer follow the destination instead of reading the original catalog.
Count the imported episodes and inspect the edges of the archive. Play a recent release and an older release. Play any trailer too. Compare titles, publication dates, descriptions, season and episode numbers, duration, and artwork.
Account-only features need separate handling. Drafts, scheduled episodes, live-production settings, private content, team permissions, advertising campaigns, and Spreaker web pages may not appear in public RSS. Rebuild or archive the parts you still need.
If any episode is missing or fails to play, pause the move. The active Spreaker feed gives both support teams a clean source for diagnosis.
2. Check episode identity in both feeds
Open the Spreaker and destination RSS URLs in a feed viewer. Compare show title, author, description, categories, language, explicit-content setting, and artwork.
Then compare episode GUIDs. Apple's hosting-provider migration guide says GUIDs should remain unchanged through a move. Apple also recommends keeping metadata, audio, and season and episode numbers consistent. If the destination assigns new GUIDs to old episodes, listening apps can display duplicates.
Keep the show stable while you test. Do not combine the migration with a new title, artwork redesign, or mass edit of the archive. Finish one normal release from the destination before making those changes.
Our guide to podcast RSS feeds explains why published records can move through an importer while Spreaker's account history cannot.
3. Redirect the Spreaker RSS feed
Current Spreaker redirect instructions from Transistor place the control inside the selected podcast:
- Open the podcast you are moving.
- Go to RSS Customization.
- Select Redirect Feed.
- Paste the destination RSS feed URL.
- Save the redirect.
Podbean's migration documentation describes the same Spreaker function as selecting Redirected in RSS settings and entering the New Feed URL. Interface wording can vary by account view. The action should always point the old Spreaker feed to the new public RSS URL.
If the redirect control is not available, contact Spreaker support before cancelling. Transistor's guide says former Spreaker customers can ask support to enable a 301 redirect and provides support@spreaker.com for that request.
Paste the destination feed, not its website, public show page, or directory listing. Stop publishing from Spreaker after the redirect so only the destination creates new episodes.
4. Verify the old Spreaker address
Open the old RSS URL in a private browser window. It should lead to the destination feed. A public website, sign-in screen, or missing-page response means the listener path is not ready.
Inspect the podcast in the apps that account for your audience. Confirm that the existing listing remains, episodes appear once, artwork is correct, and old audio plays. Do not submit the destination feed as a new show because that can create a duplicate listing.
Apple says a host's 301 redirect normally moves followers without an additional feed edit in Apple Podcasts Connect. Its manual update route is a fallback when you cannot redirect the old feed.
Record the app, time, and result of each check. Directory caches can display an older description while the feed route already works, so focus on the existing listing, catalog, audio, and next release.
5. Update Spotify for Creators
Spotify asks externally hosted podcasts to update the RSS link and hosting partner after a move. Use Spotify's host-update instructions:
- Sign in to Spotify for Creators and select the podcast.
- Open Settings.
- Review the current RSS feed and hosting partner.
- Select Update.
- Enter the destination RSS URL.
- Confirm the new hosting provider and submit.
This update changes Spotify's record. It does not replace the Spreaker redirect needed by other apps and existing feed subscribers.
6. Publish one controlled episode
After the old feed forwards and the main listings remain intact, publish the next regular episode at the destination. Keep the normal schedule and format so the release tests the migration rather than a new production setup.
Confirm that the episode appears once in Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and the other apps you monitor. Compare its title, notes, artwork, duration, and audio. Check that the destination host receives new requests.
Review your website and production systems too. Replace Spreaker players, episode links, or automations that depend on the old account. A feed redirect cannot alter an embed already saved in a page.
Export the Spreaker reports and billing records you need. Label the final report with the cutover date, then treat the destination dashboard as a separate measurement series. The feed import does not merge analytics methods or history.
7. Change the Spreaker account last
Do not close or downgrade the account until the migration works from the old feed through the listener-facing apps. Confirm:
- The old Spreaker RSS URL reaches the destination feed.
- Imported episodes appear once and play.
- Spotify recognizes the new URL and hosting partner.
- Apple and other important apps retain the existing listing.
- One new episode has distributed from the destination.
- Reports, files, and billing records are saved.
- Old players and production links have been reviewed.
If any check fails, keep access to both hosts while support traces the route. Include both feed URLs and one affected episode in the request.
Podder does not migrate Spreaker's private analytics history. If you stay with Spreaker, you can add Podder without a host move. If you leave for another supported provider, wait until the destination feed is stable, then start Podder Analytics as a new series.
FAQ
Where is the Spreaker feed redirect?
Current migration instructions place it under the selected podcast's RSS Customization area. Choose Redirect Feed and enter the destination RSS URL. Contact Spreaker support if the control is unavailable.
Will my Spreaker analytics move to the new host?
No. The RSS feed carries public show and episode records, not Spreaker's private analytics history. Export needed reports and mark the date when publishing changes hosts.
Can I use Podder without leaving Spreaker?
Yes. Spreaker supports third-party analytics prefixes. If independent measurement is your only reason for moving, install Podder on the existing feed instead of changing hosts.
See who's actually listening.
Podder gives you audience demographics, per-episode analytics, and chart tracking. The Chartable alternative that goes deeper.
